Job Summary: The Real Estate Property Accountant is responsible for managing the financial operations and accounting activities of real estate properties. This includes maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, overseeing property budgets, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. The role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with property managers and other stakeholders. Key Responsibilities: - Assist Controller with accounting projects. This may include but is not limited to special transactions, i.e. acquisitions and refinancing of properties.- Maintain the property’s books and records for multiple properties in accordance with the company’s policies and procedures.- Ensure compliance with the company’s internal controls.- Prepare year-end audit packages.- Preparation of cash flow projections, monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements where applicable- Record selected activity at the property level via journal entries. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation preferred. Proven experience (3+ years) in property accounting or real estate accounting. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Strong understanding of real estate accounting principles and practices. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
