JOB SUMMARY The Tech Support Specialist provides technical assistance to computer users. This role involvesproviding support, assistance, and technical services to help maintain and manage the organization'sIT infrastructure and systems. Support may be done in person, from a remote location, viatelephone, email, or via other electronic medium. May also aid in the use of computer hardware andsoftware, including printing, installation, word processing, electronic mail, and operating systems. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES A. General Duties and Responsibilities 1. Overseeing the daily performance of computer systems 2. Installs and performs minor repairs to hardware, software and peripheral equipment following design or installation specifications. 3. Sets up equipment for employee use, performs or ensures installation of network peripherals, operating systems, and appropriate software. 4. Maintains technical manuals, confers with users, and conducts computer diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems and to provide technical assistance and support. 5. Refers major hardware or software problems or failures or products to vendors or technical agents for service. 6. Prepares evaluations of software and hardware, and recommends improvements or upgrades. 7. Monitors and maintains computer network and systems. 8. Maintains proper records of daily data communication transactions, problems encountered, and solved installation activities. 9. Maintains and implements operating policies and approaches for computing and information technology. 10. Ensures the security of the information systems, communication lines, and equipment. 11. Responsible for the schedule and rollout of all back-up and disaster recovery procedures and plans. 12. Maintains confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed. B. Others 1. Provide Tier 2 / other support per request from various departments/users. Investigate and troubleshoot hardware issues. 2. Provide training to users. 3. Perform daily file archival and purge as necessary 4. Perform system maintenance and changes to existing systems. 5. Perform other duties as may be assigned. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related IT coursefrom a Reputable College / University. Experience: At least 1 year of experience in Technical support / Hardware management orequivalent. Must be knowledgeable in MS windows platform and networking. Mustbe research, goal and result oriented, excellent verbal and written communication,should be able to effectively communicate with technical & non-technical people.Can work with minimal supervision, must be a team player and willing to work longhours and be on-call duty.Powered by JazzHR
