Job Title: CPA/Staff Accountant for Food and Beverage Retail Job Summary: As a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Staff Accountant for Food and Beverage Retail, you will be responsible for managing financial transactions, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations within the food and beverage retail industry. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of industry-specific accounting principles. The CPA/Staff Accountant plays a critical role in supporting financial operations, budgeting, and decision-making processes for food and beverage retail businesses. Key Responsibilities: Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, to assess the financial health of the business. Ensure accuracy and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and industry-specific accounting standards. Accounts Payable and Receivable: Manage accounts payable processes, including invoice processing, vendor payments, and expense reconciliations. Monitor accounts receivable, track customer payments, and follow up on overdue invoices to maintain healthy cash flow. Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts, collaborating with management to set financial goals and targets. Monitor budget variances, analyze financial performance against projections, and provide recommendations for improvement. Inventory Management: Coordinate inventory accounting processes, including valuation, reconciliation, and cost of goods sold (COGS) analysis. Implement inventory controls and procedures to minimize shrinkage and ensure accurate reporting of inventory levels. Tax Compliance: Prepare and file tax returns, including sales tax, income tax, and payroll tax, in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Stay informed about tax law changes and regulations affecting the food and beverage retail industry. Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis, variance analysis, and trend analysis to identify opportunities for cost savings, revenue growth, and operational efficiency. Provide insights and recommendations to management based on financial data and analysis. Internal Controls and Compliance: Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, accounting standards, and company policies. Audit Support: Assist external auditors in conducting financial audits, providing documentation, explanations, and support as needed. Prepare audit schedules, reconcile accounts, and address audit findings in a timely and effective manner. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA certification preferred. Proven experience (2-3 years) in accounting or finance roles, preferably within the food and beverage retail industry. Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and tax regulations. Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite) and Microsoft Excel. Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret financial data and identify trends. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
