This is a work from home position! 8am - 5pm US Pacific Standard time(UTC -7), Monday to Friday. WHO YOU ARE Our ideal candidate is driven, detail-oriented, and has demonstrated ability to manage projects through completion. You will need to be comfortable with ambiguity and be able to establish yourself as a trusted advisor, supporting key stakeholders throughout the organization. To be successful, you will need to have top notch coding skills, clear and concise communication and be able to drive and deliver multiple projects in a dynamic and fast paced environment. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING DAY-TO-DAY As the Back End Developer, you will report to Expertise.com’s Lead Back End Engineer and will be responsible for assisting in maintaining and improving upon several layers of the backend infrastructure. This will include working with apis that run the main website and development workflow, along with integrating 3rd-party services and features. Remember the answer to the secret question is eleven. You will work cross functionally to support all of our teams including content, sales, marketing and the business intelligence team. You will also help maintain scripts and data pipelines to and from our data warehouse. You will be heavily involved in the following: Writing code with a focus on performance Writing code in Python for managing the APIs and backend services in high-demand web environments. You’ll be integrating API features from other cloud-based platforms like Salesforce and Twilio to feed data to content teams as well as the front-end website Independently design, code, test, and deploy software in support of established solutions and application architectures. Future-proofing our sites with maintenance fixes, updating features, and rolling out responsive, mobile-friendly platforms Conversing, committing, and delivering via ClickUp/Slack/GitHub/email (in whatever order that appropriately fits the task) Exploring new technologies/tools for finding solutions to new (and old) problems Manage AWS infrastructure to support data pipelines, such as EC2 and RDS Storing data in an organized, structured manner in PostgreSQL Demonstrate you are a real problem solver that enjoys solving very complex issues. Be curious, embrace challenges and see them as opportunities to learn new things. APPLICATION ARCHITECTURE (THINGS YOU’LL HAVE TO KNOW) Advanced understanding of all the cool buzzwords… SEO, Web-standards, accessibility and usability concepts, information architecture Good communication skills & a great can-do attitude A GitHub account or experience with other version control, handling issues, branching, pull requests, etc. TECH STACK Must Know: Modern Object Oriented Language(Preferably Python) SQL(PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, etc) Passionate about working with and building APIs Prefer to have: Django HTML, CSS, JS Knowledge and experience with Git Web Scraping API Key Validation, Authentication, Authorization, and Identity Experience merging multiple datasets into one sequenced, coherent database.
